For Tarsiers, the environment in which they live is essential for happy, healthy life. Tarsiers live in primary and secondary forests. The Bohol Sanctuary is surrounded by ficus, teak and mahogany trees although there are also palm, fern and bamboo trees and bushes in the area. As long as the Tarsier can live in such forests, they will have a fine healthy life.

However, a few, large problems for the Tarsiers are predators, typhoons and earthquakes. In the Tarsier protected area's predators are minimised although they are still vulnerable to snakes and some birds. Typhoons and Earthquakes are things that the Philippines is known for as it lives on the Pacific Ring of Fire and is in a belt where typhoons are a regular annual issue. Bohol suffers from both typhoons and earthquakes. Linan only suffers from earthquakes.

It has been said that the Tarsier is the "Barometer of the World". As the Tarsier has been around since the dinosaurs were here, the loss of the Tarsier is a reflection of where the earth is heading. There were 28 types of Tarsier on the world now there are only 10. We have to ensure we do not loose anymore else we are in danger of losing our planet.

TarsierUK would like to see more people grow concerns about the environment in which they live and how they live their lives. In future years TarsierUK will introduce an award system for Small, Medium Enterprises in the UK, starting with the Milton Keynes area and hopefully moving out each year to ever wider area. This award will be something that companies can advertise as a positive sign that their company is one that can be relied upon to be environmentally concerned and that their governance is something they value.
